Flexible design for the modern family

Blueprint was commissioned to reconfigure and extend the existing residence to provide a modern space with a much-needed connection to the existing garden.

The design looked to alter the plan and Elevations to the North and West creating a series of light internal and external spaces that open up the garden and enhance the client’s life within the open plan layout.

A garden pavilion (gym and home office) is located to the north of the site and linked by a covered external space to continue the series of spaces and create a private courtyard and views across the landscape.

The design is a contextual response to the site and unlocks the garden which is disconnected to the majority of the house.

A simple material palette was chosen to blend with the traditional timber gables, avoiding any fussy details and providing a sculptural quality to sit comfortably within the surrounding landscape
