St Faith’s Prep is an independent prep school, within the village of Ash, East Kent.

The motivation behind the development was to add a new Sports Hall (336m2) to deliver a better quality of education with improved facilities.

The entrance is sheltered by a canopy which travels over the ramped walkway creating a connection to the play space to the east. Upon entry the draft lobby includes a bespoke timber locker area and integrated window seating/waiting space which opens directly onto the main hall space. The scale of the main hall allows for the use of badminton courts, basketball, indoor football/hockey/handball court and indoor cricket.

Two integrated benches sit either side of a large folding door which gives access to the main storage area.

Careful consideration was given to blend the proposed into the existing landscape. Breaking up the elevation into a lower and upper visual band helped with the volume and the cladding, being punctuated by fins between the boards, wraps the building on all four façades adding depth to the elevations.
